Comfort Food for the Yogi

Greetings Monday after USA Thanksgiving holiday, New York Times newspaper ran a 2 page spread on ‘comfort foods’.

What about comfort foods for us Yogi’s? Of the many wonderful yogic recipes I know, the favorites in my home are GARLIC BIG MAC and GOLDEN MILK.

Garlic Big Mac

is a winner at breakfast. It is warming, purifying and great for men to replenish their ‘strength”.

I toast the bread, spread ghee lightly on the toast. Spread lots of finely chopped fresh garlic. Then add a layer of grated Cheddar cheese (I use goat cheese or melt-able almond cheese). Pop it into the broiler for 3 minutes until the top is toasty and light brown. Delicious and warming.
Golden Milk a wonderful tasty drink at night for stiff joints, increase flexibility, strengthen nerves & digestion and helps me get up for Sadhana at 4am. I take a 1/2 cup of water & 1 tablespoon of turmeric and boil this for a few minutes. After it has turned darker golden I add 2 -3 cups of (goat, rice, soy) milk and just heat it and stir together (do not need to boil). Remove this from the heat and pour into individual cups. In each cup put 1 tablespoon of almond oil or sesame oil and sweetener (honey, maple syrup, Agave, stevia) to your taste. You can even make this in an espresso maker and top w/ nutmeg & Cinnamon.

Blessings
