At Khalsa Women’s Training Camp in 1983, Yogi Bhajan said this Shabad, the fifth track of my latest album, Meditate Forever, was the perfect forklift and Kundalini yoga meditation.

He also said, “In the first two lines, the entire secret of God and God’s experience is totally identified.”

This meditation helped me during difficult times in my life.

My situation was huge and filled with misunderstandings that even I didn’t know about. It took time and concentration to calm my mind, to see the dramas replayed from a neutral place and discover the insensitivities that caused the problems. With this knowledge, I could understand solutions.

After singing this meditation, I no longer felt stifled, instead immersed in the flow of Naad, where the tongue touches points that stimulate the hypothalamus, leading to feelings of great joy, clarity and strength.

For this feeling to have a long-lasting effect in my life, I did this meditation for two and a half hours every day for two years.

But starting was the first step to a lifetime of feeling better in hard times.

For Meditate Forever, I recorded a simple, slow version of this meditation, where you can sing and feel your own energy rise and tensions fall.

This is another tool in your meditation arsenal.

Often we have the tools and don’t use them.

Or, we don’t have the right key. When you’re locked out of your home, you wouldn’t use your car key to get inside the house.

Even when you have the right key, nothing is going to change unless you use it. You have to turn the key in the lock so the door can open. Yup, big transitions require effort even with a little key.

The key for this meditation?

Reading and singing with precision.

Moving the tongue in the mouth to carefully form the words with precision.

Find the words here.

I recite in this way to unlock the door of my mind’s resistance.

Sometimes we need a miraculous entry into a different state of mind or a different state of awareness to deal with a difficult time in our life.

Even for a moment.

When only a miracle can save you, sing these words by heart, and you’ll find your way out of the misunderstanding of that situation.
